Five
of the Most Common Questions
1)"What is
the difference between the Recreational and the
Advanced Program?"
The recreational program (Soccer Made Fun and
Rec-Competitive) is for players normally
participating on rec teams as part of in-house
leagues such as YMCA, ACYS, CFU, or FSA.
The advanced program (Select and Premier)
is for players that normally tryout in order to make
a team and play in a league with several clubs
competing such as Greater Central Florida (GCF).
2) "Can my son/daughter be placed with
his/her friends or teammates?" Players
can be placed with their friends or teammates. At
times we also break down into smaller groups or
pairings and will use skill level when possible to
create sub groups during certain exercises.
Regardless, our goal is to both challenge players
and provide a fun learning environment that brings
together friends and makes new friends while
improving and building confidence.
3) "What is the coach to player
ratio?" We use both staff instructors
and associate staff to supervise and teach players
in groups of 6 to 10 depending on the age and skill
level. Players are also mixed between groups for
certain activities such as small sided tournaments.
Overall we include one (1) staff member or associate
staff for every player eight (8) players (1:8). In
the younger ages of 4-7, we use a one to six (1:6)
coach to player ratio.
4) My child's age is on the border between 2
program choices (Soccer Made Fun versus Rec-Competitive
or Select versus Premier). How do I know for which
one to register?" We recognize that
children grow and develop at varying rates resulting
in differences between kids of the same age. So we
offer choices for parents to take into account both
physical and emotional maturity along with skill
level and experience. Parents should choose the
option that meets their child's developmental goals.
5) "What about the heat, safety, and the
length of the camp?" Both the half day
and full day can be a lot of time on the field for
many kids, depending on their age. We provide both
tent shade and indoor areas for kids during water
breaks. We take water breaks every 10-20 minutes
depending on age and heat factor. Extra water is
provided for those that run out. We remind kids to
use sunscreen daily. The curriculum is designed to
be both inspirational and entertaining with frequent
changes in activities in order to keep the players
attention. Coaches are trained to be motivational. A
swimming break is provided for full day kids before
lunch. Both half day and full day kids are asked to
bring a healthy snack to re-energize during our
mid-morning break.
